Common Admission Test – A Gateway To Top Management Institutes

Every year, Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) conducts a National level entrance exam i.e. Common Admission Test (CAT) for the management programs of it’s seven business schools. This exam is usually held in the month of November on the third Sunday and a lot of students appear in this exam for getting admission in best business schools. CAT score is not only valid for IIMs institutes but also many other institutes of India also prefer those candidates who have qualified this common entrance exam.

About the Exam

Common Admission Test (CAT) is an objective type exam that comprises of three sections with domains of statistics, geometry, logical reasoning, English language skills, arithmetical problem solving etc. For attempting the questions, the time duration is two and half hours. According to recently announcement, CAT exam will be a Computer based test from 2009 onwards.

An individual is eligible who has qualified a Bachelor’s degree with at least 50% marks or CGPA and 45 % in the case of the candidates belong to Schedule caste (SC) or Schedule tribe (ST) category. The students, who are appearing in the final year graduation exam are also eligible, are also eligible to appear the exam.

Exam Preparation

Many successful candidates start preparing for the Common Admission Test (CAT) at least one year in advance. Some students join coaching classes for that. For getting high score in this exam, one should improve maths skills by starting with high school books to clear the fundamentals of algebra, arithmetic and geometry. An individual should also read editorials, articles etc. for improving his verbal ability. This common entrance test can be qualified by those students who are intelligent and who have done innovative preparation for the exam.
